Profile Description

1. War Memorial Hall 1939-45. Built 1957. Clock made 1881. Relocated from Te Awamutu to Kihikihi 1960.

2. Alpha Hotel. Built 1868, cost 1000 pounds. Featuring prints of Lindauer Maori Chiefs.

3. Anglican Church. Built 1881 costing 300 pounds.

4. Two room Temple Cottage. Built 1866 on Alexandra Stockage Reserve.

5. Police House. Built 1907 costing 700 pounds. Now featuring childrens art.

6. Ratatu Hill Redoubt. Built 1864 after O-Rakau Battle.

7. Water Tower.

8. Town Hall. Originally built 1882 with 300 shares at 30 pounds each. Present Hall built 1904 after fire.

9. Star Hotel. Built 1882 and opened 1883.

10. Rewi Maniapoto Memorial to Chief of O-Rakau Battle.

11. Presbyterian Church. Built 1885, cost 300 pounds. Rebuilt 1923, after fire.

12. School. First built 1873 in Lyon Street. New two room school built 1884 near cemetery. Burnt down 1938. Present school built 1952.

13. Cemetery. Gazetted 1875 as Reserve, costing 250 pounds.

14. Domain. 40 acres gazetted 1881 as Recreation Reserve. Grandstand built 1888 by C.T. Rickit.

15. Catholic Church site, 1880. First Mission built at Rangiaowhia 1830’s.

16. Major Jackson House. Built 1879. Commander Forest Rangers O-Rakau Battle.

17. Alexandra Stockade Reserve. Site of Military stables during 1860s.
